This is a completely paved ride between paths and roads so no limestone this weekend. We start this bike ride inside Rock Cut State Park. We will cycle on the paved Orange trail along Willow Creek out of the park to Perryville Road. We then cycle west to the Rock River then south along the shoreline paths through many small parks. This is a very scenic and diverse bike ride on side streets and park trails. You will see rock formations that you also see in the Wisconsin Dells. It's supposed to be great weather so I hope some of you will join us.
Directions:
Rock Cut State Park is about a 1 hr 15 minute drive from the Clock Tower in Schaumburg. Take the 90 tollway all the way to Exit 173 past Rockford, (which will say Rock Cut State Park). You will turn left and drive to the next stoplight and turn left into Rock Cut. It is about a 1.5 mile drive into the park to Pierce Lake Dam. Just stay on the main park road until you get to the lake. We will meet at the Dam (looks like a wooden bridge). There is a parking lot on the north side of the Dam (bridge), across from the Orange Trail.
We can add extra miles in the park if anyone is interested when we return to the parking lot. It would add another three or so miles to the ride.
Let me know you're coming so we don't leave without you. If anyone is interested in arranging a lunch location, that would be great. There are plenty of places to go. We go to our daughter's house after the ride so we will not be doing that.
