9:45 am
We're going to try again! After two rained-out attempts, this third one might just work.
You may have heard about a Danish artist's construction of multiple trolls (made of recycled materials from the area) throughout the Morton Arboretum in Lisle. Let's plan a bike ride in the Arboretum on Sunday, Sept. 23rd to see these trolls.
We'll meet in the parking lot of the Arboretum at 9:30 am. Allow about 35-45 minutes to get there from the Schaumburg area. We'll start riding at 9:45. There will be numerous stops on our ride to explore the 6 structures that artist Thomas Dambo has erected there. When we've seen all 6, we can stop for lunch at the very nice cafeteria at the Arboretum. (An interesting tidbit: Dambo took a bike tour of the arboretum before agreeing to the project. He had to find the right locations for creatures that would seamlessly blend with their environment.)
We'll be riding on the 9 miles of paved roads that wind through hundreds of acres of beautiful trees and displays. Of course, to get more exercise,
you can ride these roads two or three times!
Date: Sunday, Sept. 23rd
Time: Meet at 9:30 to begin riding at 9:45
Location: Morton Arboretum 4100 IL-53, Lisle, IL 6053
Admission fee: $13 per person for seniors: $15 for younger adults!
(If you can't join us on this date, consider going on your own on a Wednesday when fees are reduced; just $9 on Wednesdays)
There was an article in the Daily Herald and also a video that highlights the author and a few of his trolls:
