Botanic Gardens Ride, Sat., June 23rd
June 23, 2018
9:30 am

If the weather is OK on Saturday, let's ride along the north section of the North Branch Trail System, into the Botanic Gardens for a lunch stop. The main ride will be from Harms Woods to the Gardens. For those who want a few more miles, we can ride further south on the trail when we return to Harms Woods.

We will meet in the parking lot for Harms Woods (Groves 5 & 6) at 9:15 to get bikes ready to ride at 9:30. The lot entrance is located on Harms Rd. just north of Golf Rd.

Directions: One option from Schaumburg, is to take Golf Rd. east to Harms Rd., turn north (left) onto Harms Rd. and at the first light (Old Orchard Rd.) turn left into the parking lot.

We will ride north, into the Botanic Gardens. Admission into the Gardens is free to cyclists but you will need money if you want to purchase food and/or a drink. We will lock our bikes and have time to walk around the Gardens, eat an early lunch, and enjoy the weather. After an hour and a quarter or so, we will ride back to our starting point in Harms Woods. This north section loop is around 18 miles. When we return to Harms Woods, if anyone is interested, we can add some mileage by riding south for whatever distance we choose.

Casual pace of 10-12 mph. This is a very well-marked, paved trail so faster riders are welcome to go ahead.

Reminder: Bring a lock!
