CANCELED: Millennium Trail
April 30, 2022
9:00 AM

CANCELED. Forecast for rain, possible severe thunderstorm, possible high wind gusts.

The Millennium Trail is a good quality crushed limestone to Singing Hills, and is paved from there to Fairfield Park in Round Lake (disc golf course) where we'll turn around. Much of it runs through Lake County Forest Preserves. It is not a rail trail. It is mostly flat with some gently rolling hills and one or two moderate hills. It is mostly open with a couple of shady spots to stop for a break. The weather is expected to be milder (mid-50's in the morning) so an open trail and clouds should be OK.

We'll ride about 12 miles out and back (total ~25 miles). (You can always turn around at Singing Hills for about 13 miles, or sooner if you prefer.)

Forecast says there might be some rain in the area this weekend. I'll update by 7 AM Saturday morning if it looks like it will be wet.

Starting Location:
Lakewood Forest Preserve (Take Barrington Road/Rt 59 north to Wauconda. Go ight/east on Route 176, then right/south on Fairfield/V61. You will see a sign for the winter sports area of Lakewood Preserve on the left at Ivanhoe Rd. (Don't be fooled by the main Lakewood entrance you will pass on Rt 176.) We'll meet at the parking lot for the winter sports area.) (24069 W Ivanhoe Rd, Wauconda might work for GPS.)

Distance: 25 miles
Average Speed: 10 mph
Leader: Wayne (heinmiller.il@prodigy.net)
