McHenry Prairie Trail
October 23, 2021
9:30 AM

We will start at the Veteran Acres Park in Crystal Lake (but bypass the hills) and ride North on the Prairie Trail to the Wisconsin state line by Genoa. This is a 38-40 mile trip if you go the distance. The good news is that you can turn around at McCullom Lake for a 19 mile round trip, Ringwood for a 24 mile round trip, Glacial Park Pavilion for a 28 mile trip, Richmond for a 35 mile ride or all the way to Genoa for the full 38-40 mile round trip. (All stated miles are close estimates, but may not be accurate)

From Veteran Acres to Ringwood (13 miles) it is a paved trail. North of that point is Crushed Limestone to Richmond and Genoa. It is mostly flat.

There is not much to do in Genoa, but we will stop in Richmond at the Dog n Suds for a break before returning. Note: it is the last day of 2021 that the Dog n Suds will be open!

We will begin the ride at 9:30 sharp so be there at 9:15 to get ready. The restrooms at the start point will be open. There are a couple of vault or out-houses along the way, but no guarantees that they will be open. The weather forecast is for mostly Sunny with some clouds, morning temps in the higher 40’s and high 50’s or better by noon.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to prepare.

Reminders: Helmets are expected safety gear. Bikes are expected to be in good condition. Guests are welcome to join us for one ride but are expected to join the club for additional rides (insurance requirements). Fountains may be disabled so bring enough water.
