Rockford/Rock River Bicycle Ride
September 14, 2019
9:00 am

Join me for a scenic ride starting at Rock Cut State Park then continuing on the Orange Trail along Willow Creek. Then we cycle to the Rock River then south along the shoreline paths through many small parks. This is a very scenic and diverse trail, all paved trails and some streets. You will see cliffs like you see on the Wisconsin River. We can add more miles if you'd like in the park. Usually everyone is too tired to add more miles.

Directions:
Rock Cut State Park is located about 65 miles from Schaumburg. Allow about 1 hours 15 minutes travel time. The expressway is wonderful and very easy to travel 75 all the way. Take Exit 173 (which says Rock Cut State Park), and go left. Go to the light and turn left into Rock Cut State Park. There are many parking lots within the park. It is about 1.5 miles into the park to Pierce Lake Dam. Just stay on the main park road until you get to the lake. We will meet at the Dam (looks like a wooden bridge). There is a parking lot on the north side of the dam (bridge), across from the Orange Trail. There is a pit toilet there also.

We can stop for lunch at the Burger King on the way back or make other arrangements for lunch after the ride if there is interest. Let me know. We will for sure stop at the river for a snack break and there is a nice flushing toilet bathroom and water there.

Let me know you're coming so we don't leave without you. I think you will enjoy this ride as it is something different than what we ride in our area.
