Ozaukee Trail to Port Washington, WI
September 28, 2019
9:30 AM

Join us Saturday, 9/28 for a ride on the Ozaukee Trail from Mequon to Port Washington. We'll start at 9:30 AM from near the intersection of Mequon and Cedarburg Road. (The community center is now a church.) There will be restrooms near the start. Plan on 2 hours from Schaumburg. We'll plan to grab lunch at the Dockside Deli in Port Washington. Or bring a lunch. (Or maybe we'll decide to hit the beer garden in the park on the bluff above the beach north of town.)

This is an easy to cycle, scenic, well-marked, paved trail/route over an old trolley line. The route is not totally flat. There are a few small hills. (On the return we have to ride up from Lake Michigan for a bit.) The trail passes through the towns of Cedarburg and Grafton where there are some on-road segments. We will be cycling through farmland on tree-lined trails, crossing rivers on historic bridges, cycling over the expressway and ending up in the Port Washington Marina on the shore of Lake Michigan. We'll see Coal Dock Park (hosting a festival) and Beach on the south side of town, as well as the beach on the north side of town. This is a favorite ride of many club members.

This is a county trail. A State trail pass is not required. There are no fees to ride this trail.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to prepare and sign in.

Casual speed ride, no one left behind.

Starting Location:
We'll start the ride from the trailhead parking off Mequon Road. The address is 6100 W Mequon Rd, Mequon, WI. The former community center is now a church. We'll need to avoid interfering with their parking. Park in the dozen or so spaces next to the trail on the left. If those are full, park on the other side of the church lot in the city hall lot.

Distance: 32 miles
Average Speed: 8-12 MPH
