Ride to Kenosha
August 31, 2019
9:30 AM

Saturday of Labor Day weekend we'll be riding from Illinois Beach State Park in Zion, Illinois to the Kenosha lakefront, and you are welcome to join us. We'll ride trails through the park to Wisconsin where we'll follow side streets along the lakefront to Harbor Park in Kenosha. On the way back we'll be following the Kenosha County Trail and McClory Trail (former right of way of the North Shore Electric). Total distance about 30 miles. About half of the ride will be on limestone trails. The remainder will mostly be on city streets.

We'll stop for lunch (perhaps at one of the festivals in Kenosha) or you can bring something along.

Temps expected to warm up to mid-70s. Expect cool breezes close to the lake so a windbreaker might be welcome.

Casual speed ride, no one left behind.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to prepare and check in.

There is a vault toilet at the starting point, and we'll stop at the marina HQ for modern restrooms about 20 minutes into the ride.

Starting Location:
Illinois Beach State Park, South Unit, beach parking lot. (Schaumburg take I-90 East to 294 North to Route 173 East, to Sheridan Road South/Right (in Zion) to Wadsworth Road East/left into the park. Take the road to the end - large parking lot past the resort - and we'll be on the left-hand side. Use 1 Lake Front Drive, Zion IL 60099 for your GPS (resort), then keep going to the end of the road.
